My daughter..

Just wanted to let the world know that my first born, Myar Jane Arnold, arrived this snowy morning in Worcester. She was 9 lbs 13 oz .. she is beautiful!

Also the geek in me went out immediately and registered www.myararnold.com and secured her email address at google.. Twitter?? of course..

Why? Personal brand! Myar has just entered the world and its her future..

Why Myar? Myar is an anagram of Mary. Both Becky and myself had grandma's called Mary. Beckys nanna passed in June just after Becky told me that she was expecting. My Nan passed a few months later. We believe it's a fitting way to pay tribute to our mothers mothers.. However, neither of us wanted to call our first daughter Mary. So it had to be an anagram.

Why not Myra?? I don't think its fair to call our daughter after one of the Moors Murderers.Why not Mayr? or Ryam? or Raym? In all honesty, only Myra and Mary was found at behindthename.com , and Mya was close. Mya is a variant of Mia , and we just added an R to the end. In fact,  we will still pronounce it My-uh

Anyway, keep your eyes and ears out for more of what Myar is getting up to..

The best news ever

I have some great news I want to share with you..

While we both found out from a pregnancy kit at the beginning of June, it was only on Tuesday this week that we went for the 12 week scan. The antenatal lady who did the scan, said that 'it' was 14 weeks and 4 days old.. and our expected due date is the 1st January 2010. The geek in me immediately thought of 010110 and binary numbers..

• 0101 1010 Z

Perhaps the name should begin with one of those letters??

Grandads Life

I had Friday off work so that me and Zena could go back home to say our farewells to Grandad. It was really good to see all of my family in one place, even it was for such a sad occasion.We all gathered at Homestead Farm, and then went down to Worcester Crematorium for the service. That was followed by a church Service at St Peters in Powick, a fabulous church from the 15th Century. The church was packed, which goes to show how much my Grandad was respected in the community.

Terrible Holiday

Me and Zena took a couple of days off work last week, so we could go camping in Devon. As I mentioned in a previous post, we didn't end up going the first day as it was raining.. The same happened Friday, so all we did was go down to Exmouth for Zenas Grandparents Diamond Wedding Anniversary.

Grandad :(

I took half a day off work today becuase my Grandads ill :(

He had a hip operation on Monday, which went very well but afterwards suffered a massive heart attack. Later that day he had another. I couldn't concentrate on work all day, as I kept thinking about himGT and Nan. I was phoning Mum n Dad and Olie to see who had the most recent news.

Anyway I got there today and Mum was there with Nan and Aunty's Gill and Jen.. He was sleeping a lot, but he seemed much better.

My Mum & Dads good friends Jilly & Roger are on a trip around Australia at the moment and, as they arrived in Sydney on Friday, we decided we should go out for Jillys Birthday.. Anyway we all went to Le Kiosk which is a beautiful restaurant on our favourite beach, Shelley Beach!

We all had a great time!! The food was gorgeous, and the wine was amazing!! It was really good to see my Godmother after all this time, and Me and Zee hope they have a great trip around Oz!!

Arnold's take on men's fashion is influenced by his experience working in various shops and boutiques before studying at the London College of Fashion. 'What I do is more natural, more like how guys dress, rather than wacky concepts,' says the Worcester-born fashion supremo of the UK's biggest-selling men's magazine.

My two favourite items are a pair of Alexander McQueen jeans - after a life-long search, they're the only jeans that actually keep their shape - and an old Levi's sweatshirt my dad gave me. It has paint splatters from his DIY - he had it when he was about my age. It's getting a bit small.

I have an embarrassing number of trainers, mostly boxed, brand new, which I don't wear. That's probably my biggest indulgence.

My style has pretty much always revolved around the skate scene, scruffy casual, but I am trying to get some smarter 'career' things.

The biggest mistake men make is buying something because it is a label and has a logo plastered across it. Not looking natural is another common mistake.

Top tip: hardly ever wash your jeans. This retains shape. The best way to wash them is on you, in a shower, and drip dry.

My must-buy for this season is a varsity college jacket.

When I was a teenager I got copies of Vogue from my mum's hairdresser. I'd hide them under skateboard mags in case my mates saw them. If they did, I claimed it was for the pictures of girls.

Sometimes I've gone too far for fashion. I once had my hair dyed green and cut for a Vidal Sassoon Japanese conference in front of 200 trainee hairdressers while wearing a Yohji kimono. Only got £75.

Put a time limit on how long you are going to get ready for something, and stick to it. If in doubt, wear jeans.
